Bangkok floating Markets

For the feel of "local", the floating markets on this tour are the places to go to. And what better way to experience it, than by bike, boat and kayak! These markets are a far cry from the "famous" Damnoen Saduak floating market. These are markets that still cater for the local Thai people. They are less touristy, less comercialised and less expensive. The first of these markets is called Taling Chan floating market where you can peruse goods which are mostly hand made. Take pictures of the classic Thai image of vendors in straw hats cooking and selling food from their paddle boats while listening to live cultural music played on authentic traditional instruments.
Undoubtedly the charm and beauty of this market is created by the welcoming and friendliness of the people. The second market is called Khlong Lat Mayom floating market and it is here that we will experience more of life along the canals. This market fits perfectly together like an uncomplicated all-fun puzzle, with something for everyone. There's a kiddies painting corner, craft stalls, little petting zoo and of course lots of exotic food - much of which you wouldn't find anywhere else in Bangkok. Klong Ladmayom
One of the unique features of this market is the emphasis on self sufficiency, so most of the goods and produce sold here are locally produced.
A highlight of this market it to take a slow paddle boat ride along the canal to give you a feel for how the people travelled in days gone by. All in all, this tour and these markets capture the essence of
Thailand with it's cultural uniqueness and simplicity of way of life.

Itinerary

We meet at 8.00 a.m. at the Just Nok New Office, for a quick
briefing and bike fitting so that we can leave by 8.30. The first stage of the cycling is pretty much through old residential Bangkok as we wind our way along little alleyways and back streets. We keep a leisurely pace, stopping frequently to wonder at the weirdness along the way.
At the first market we have a good coffee break as we walk around to take in the sights and sounds of this colourful little market. If need be there is also the opportunity to have a quick open air foot massage under the trees or even do a bit of shopping of the locally produced goods and wares. From Taling Chan we continue cycling, but this stage is more rural along shaded canals and through little plantations. As usual we stop at various places of interest - one being a quaint house where natural perfumes are produced.
Golden mountain Once at Latmayom floating market we'll break for lunch after which you have time to wander around at your leisure.

There are some particular places and acitivities of interest:
  *   Painting corner and pony rides for kiddies
  *   Feeding the fish in the canal
  *   Sampling the wide varienty of exotic food and fruit
  *   Shopping for hand made crafts and souviners

After your free time, there is a relaxing paddleboat ride through the canals before we start our homeward journey.
We leave the market with a 30 minute longtail boat ride through the old canals back to Bangkok, which leaves us with a short distance to cycle back to the shop. We should be back at the Just Nok office at about 3.30 p.m.
